Collection with the code name «Wood furniture» consists of about 1500 items. Approximately 60% of the collection is in the museum.

On the content of the collection can be divided into several main groups: furniture, sculpture, carving a cult, peasant household items and agricultural tools, arts and crafts items.

The first and most volumetric size group includes a plurality of pieces of furniture of different artistic styles and trends of Western European and Russian art con. XVII — XX centuries: mahogany, Karelian birch, walnut, oak and other materials. An integral part of the collection is both artisanal furniture XIX — XX centuries, including wicker furniture of the 1930s, performed by masters Panfilov farm. Most of them are grouped in sets and are organic, «decoration» of the museum expositions and exhibitions, both artistic and historical. The most valuable objects are art furniture from the family estate of Count Uvarov Red Hill in the village Karacharovo. Especially oak stands set beginning XVIII — the second half of the XIX century. Consisting of 29 articles, it is a fine example of the German work performed in the style of the Renaissance and the Baroque German. The massive cabinet, sofas, chests, tables and chairs are richly decorated with carvings of lions and angels mascarons, caryatids and strange plants. On the high backs of two sofas — the relief scenes of falconry on the background of a Gothic castle. German coats of arms are present in subjects thread chairs and closet. A prominent place in the collection of furniture and objects occupy a country life XIX — XX centuries in the form of carved stools, postavtsa, tables, «unsteady» in different shapes, beds. The basis of this group consists of items collected by the museum staff during ethnographic expeditions Muromsky District and the former county.

The second group — this iconic sculpture and carving XVIII — XX centuries. This is mainly fragmentary preserved parts carved iconostasis of Murom churches closed in 1930−50-ies, as well as the bulk of the sculpture of temples and private collections. The last is the most interesting image of a wonderful «Holy Mother of God,» the second half of the XVIII century. The sculpture came to the museum in 1919 from the private collection of local lore Murom NG Dobrynkin. The sculpture was revealed to them in the church graveyard Gorica Nizhny Novgorod province. The collection is stored and sculpture from Murom Church of the Nativity of the Virgin. Among them relief, «the head of the Beheading of John the Baptist» XVIII century, restored in the restoration workshops named IE Grabar (Moscow). The most numerous is the section of the peasant household items and agricultural tools beginning of XIX — XX century. As peasant furniture, utensils, farming tools, weaving and other activities of the peasants — the object of collective and expeditions of the museum staff on the territory of the district of Murom. Weaving mills, Rubel, paddles, Svejk, Spinning, various barrels, bortni, beetroot, baskets, etc. make up this section of the collection. Among them is particularly necessary to allocate objects, decorated with carvings and paintings. The collection contains not only the products of local craftsmen. This section of the collection, in turn, is «tree» from the personal collection of Murom artist, academician of painting IS Kulikova, which he donated to the museum in the years 1920. The value of this collection is growing every year, as these items are found less and less.
